I
have been working as an artist and teacher in Montgomery County Pennsylvania
for over 20 years. As an artist I have chosen to work with clay because
of the inherent beauty and durability of the material. I received my Master's Degree from Temple University Tyler School of Art. I also studied sculpture at the Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia and worked as an apprentice at the Moravian Tile Works in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. My work is heavily influenced by time spent in South East Asia while in the Navy where I had the opportunity to study folk art and woodcarving. Tiles are crafted mostly from terra cotta clay. Because all work is hand made, there will always be a subtle variation in the finished product. Each piece has a character of it's own. Ceramic tile is suited for many applications. Tiles can be permanently installed in kitchen back splashes or fireplace surrounds to name a few, or hung individually as decorative elements. Beyond my line of decorative tiles, I also accept commissions for custom mosaics and commemorative plaques. |
