It’s all about the yarn...

Touching the yarn. Feeling the yarn’s texture. Deciding on the right weight. Choosing the exact colors. Figuring out what pattern to use. Determining how long to make the item. Finally, finishing. Loving it because it’s unique.

It’s all about the yarn. The yarn determines the outcome...
There are only two stitches in knitting, knit and purl. So, it is absolutely amazing the many outcomes that exist from working with the yarn.

I make scarves and shawls. Sometimes, I dabble in garments. But, not frequently. For most scarves, I use only the knit stitch. So, deciding what yarn to use seems to be the most important part of creating the scarf. But then, there is the sensual experience of making the scarf. Still, it’s all about the yarn.

The yarns seduce me. There’s feeling the yarn as it works its way through my fingers. Wrapping it around the needles. Watching the colors blend together to form different patterns. Seeing something interesting form before my eyes. Having my efforts create something someone else will love. What could I do with all that beautiful, wonderfully textured yearn?

My goal is to find exciting and different ways to work with yarn. To continue to combine colors and textures in ways that I haven’t previously imagined. I love the process. But more than anything else I love the different yarns.

It’s all about the yarns.
