I have always been interested in the process of making handmade soaps and the benefits of essential oils and aromatherapy. Using the handmade soaps I purchased at craft shows left my skin looking and feeling so much better than when I used store bought products. I soon tired of itchy skin and allergic reactions from perfumery smelling commercial soaps. I sneezed every time I washed my face and scratched my legs like crazy because my skin became dried out from the chemicals and fragrances. Did you know that the soaps you find in markets and drug stores aren’t really soap? They are detergents created with machines and chemicals. Muddy Creek Soaps are made with natural and organic products, such as olive, coconut, palm, and castor oils, essential oils, and natural and organic butters, herbs and botanicals. These ingredients give my soaps their great qualities, including long lasting foamy lather and—most important—a lower pH, which means no more itchy skin!

Because I wanted to learn much more about the process, I did a lot of research and attended a seminar. Then I started experimenting with using natural and organic ingredients and eliminating harsh chemicals and perfumes. I continued experimenting and gave my family and friends products to try. From the first batch I was immediately hooked, not only by the intriguing process, but also by the incredible results. I had always been creative and enjoyed making things from scratch. Now I was rewarded not only by the act and art of creating, but by the satisfaction that came from watching those around me appreciate what I had created. I had found my destiny!

Soap making began as a hobby—something I worked on at night and on weekends. I loved giving soaps as gifts for holidays or special occasions. But in January 2010 I lost my job—an event that I began to see as an opportunity. Could I turn this hobby into something more? I began to build a website while making more and more soaps and experimenting with new products. Before I knew it I had a whole line of natural organic products that included body washes, foaming hand soaps, and lotions.

Muddy Creek soaps are produced in small batches and tested for sensitivity and aesthetics by my family and me. A product is not packaged for sale until I am personally satisfied. Because my products are individually made in small quantities there may be slight variations in color, shape, or texture from one batch to the next, but customers can be assured that I always use only the highest quality oils and ingredients.
