Sculpture

From the black hole vacuum of birth to your final breath every sentient human is conversant with an internal voice. Simultaneously we are bombarded with external stimuli, and it is these forces—which summon forth powerful feelings and sensations—that are evident within but masked to others.

I strive to pierce beyond the flesh and reveal the many layers of the soul to give the impression of slipping into another person’s private reality. My pieces involve presenting powerful but controlled emotions that speak of an internal monologue capturing the human form in a stilled moment. The exploration of various gestural postures is conveyed in works that range from life size sculptures to vignettes and fragmented figural studies.

In this investigation of the figure I have begun to think about expanding the range of sensual experience and to deepen and intensify the interpretation of feeling. With this in mind, the transformation of space is utilized to create a personal environment in which the sculptures exist.
